The Renaissance by Ventura Developments Inc. was created to honour the simple-sounding, but often hard-to-achieve premise that retirement should be stress-free and carefree. The site was ideally set aside for apartment development in phase three of the master-planned community of Quarry Ridge Park in the town of Stonewall.

According to Al Shrupka, real estate professional for RE/MAX Associates Winnipeg: “Renaissance’s 63 apartments have been developed to satisfy the diverse needs of residents 50 and over, as well as empty nesters working towards retirement, and it gives them the opportunity to live a life that provides the freedom and flexibility that they’ve worked so hard for.”

Part of that freedom and flexibility is due to the fact that Renaissance, which is located in the peaceful rural setting of Stonewall, consists of quality rental apartments, which means residents can enjoy a no-maintenance lifestyle, go away on vacation for extended periods of time with the property fully cared for and – perhaps most importantly – not worry about home repairs or increasing property taxes. “It’s one fixed fee per month, and that’s it,” says Shrupka.

Renaissance is situated in the Quarry Ridge Park development of Stonewall, an area of vast prairie vistas and natural oak savannah within a town that offers a friendly, quiet alternative to the big-city living of Winnipeg 25 kilometres south.

Ventura relied on extensive local public input to create a facility that perfectly suited the Stonewall marketplace. The pet-friendly building itself was designed with convenience in mind, with extra wide hallways, one-level living, secure indoor heated garage parking and plenty of guest parking in the large outdoor lot. Gardening space is available, and a large common room with kitchen provides an ideal place for family gatherings and functions.

Prospective buyers have four floor plans to choose from, ranging from a two-bedroom apartment of 800 square feet to a two-bedroom two-bathroom configuration of 1,180 square feet (1,425 square feet including the balcony). All the suites feature open-concept living areas with large windows for plenty of natural light, as well as large private, covered balconies/patio spaces. The spacious kitchens feature large pantries; the wide hallways and bathrooms are wheelchair-friendly. Also, each apartment has a large storage room and in-suite laundry, and all suites contain individual temperature control. Appliances include fridge, stove, dishwasher and washer and dryer.

Of course, Renaissance’s carefree lifestyle is immeasurably enhanced by its surroundings. “Our development is just a block away from a community centre and a hospital, and the town of Stonewall provides a wide variety of shops and services,” says Shrupka. “Stonewall truly lives up to its moniker of being a great place to call home, and of course, for those who still enjoy urban excitement, Winnipeg is an easy drive away.”

The first phase of Renaissance is in pre-construction with a completion date of April, 2020, and Shrupka stresses that RE/MAX is not only taking reservations for the first phase of 30 suites, “we can ensure that phase-one tenants are given first choice of phase-two suites, if that’s their preference.”
