Charges laid in domestic incidents

Manitoulin OPP charged two individuals in separate domestic incidents on the weekend.

On Saturday, around 12:15 a.m., officers were called to a report of abuse in Northeast Manitoulin.

“Investigation revealed that an individual had damaged their spouse’s vehicle,” the OPP said in a release.

A 27-year-old from Woodstock was charged with mischief (domestic), and is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Court of Justice in Gore Bay.

Also on Saturday, at 11:52 a.m., officers from the Manitoulin OPP responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Espanola.

A 29-year-old from Espanola was charged with two counts of spousal assault.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Court of Justice in Espanola.

The OPP is reminding victims of domestic assaults they are “not alone” and there are resources available to help them.
