For those who want to unwind while taking care of their body, mind and soul, the I Am Festival outside Teulon might be the cure for what ails.

The festival, which is in its fourth year and will take place from Aug. 16 to 18, also acts as a wellness retreat, according to event organizer Tracy Thibodeau.

“We take practitioners from all over North America, bring them all to one place and set up a whole bunch of programming for people to explore different elements of personal development and growth,” Thibodeau told The Stonewall Argus and Teulon Times.

The schedule includes an assortment of various activities such as music, yoga, dance workshops, meditation and other classes designed to improve wellness for participants. There will also be acoustic musical performances by Interlake acts Two Crows For Comfort and Micah Erenberg, as well as from Winnipeg’s Richard Inman, Barefootim, Odder Than The Otters and Trista Shay.

Thibodeau said that the festival is continuing to grow.

“We’ve increased the number of practitioners,” she said. “Last year, we had around 22 and this year, we have over 40.”

There will also be six venues for this year’s event: the Main Stage, Centre Camp, Zen Forest, Dome, Tipi and the Zen Trail (Wisdom Walk).

“Each venue has its own type of feel,” Thibodeau added. “There are people who just believe that you should have a place where you can feel safe, where you can unplug, where you can just kind of contemplate life in a meaningful life. There are just so many individuals who come here for that reason … People are making lifelong friends out here.”

The I Am Festival is located on 91078 Road 3 East, six miles west and 1.5 miles south of Teulon. For more information on the festival, visit iamfestival.net.
