The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) deployed all available officers for school zone patrols across the detachment area from September 3, 2019 to September 6, 2019.

There were no motor vehicle collisions reported to police during the first week of school, but 6 motorists were charged with speeding in a school zone.

“Speeding is well known as one of the OPP Big Four causal factors in serious collisions. It’s an unacceptable risk on our roads that becomes even more dangerous in areas that we can expect our children to be walking in. The South Bruce OPP will continue with traffic enforcement each shift in the interest of public safety” – Staff Sergeant Paul Richardson, Detachment Manager, South Bruce OPP.

The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a secure web-tip at www.cstip.ca, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000.
