A by-election to fill all of the seats on Teulon council after it was dissolved by the province earlier this month now has a date.

The Town of Teulon announced on Oct. 18 that a vote to determine its next mayor and four councillors will be held on Thursday, Dec. 11. Prospective candidates must register within the designation registration period which is from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1 and Nov. 4 to 5 at the Town of Teulon offices from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“Dec. 11, 2019 was selected as the soonest that a by-election could reasonably be held, taking into account the minimum timeline of 50 days for holding a municipal by-election established in The Municipal Councils and School Boards Elections Act, as well as the lead time required to implement this process,” Benjamin Lyle, a provincial municipal services officer wrote in an email to The Stonewall Argus and Teulon Times.

Advanced polls will take place as well as the opportunity to vote by sealed envelope.

Those who wish to obtain a registration form can contact the Town of Teulon by phone at
204-886-2314 or by fax at 204-886-3918.
